This book was alright for a short novella. I wasn't expecting it to be a romance, though. This book wasn't like Carroll's usual amazing fantasies that he writes. I believe that the quality of the book was great, it had very good scenes and a full plot. The only issue is that this book was a little too different for me. If you're looking for a romance then get this book,if you're looking for an adventure try another one of his novels.Product details

You know you've read a wonderful story when you run the full range of emotions, from laughing so hard your belly hurts to crying your eyes out. This is a stand-alone story, and it is so very good. I read it twice in a row!!
Rain Glade is one of the best short stories/novellas by new author John Carroll. From the get go you are hooked on young Rain, you feel sad for Rain dealing with her home life but you have empathy and pride for how she copes. There are moments of laughter and moments of tears but it holds your attention from start to finish.
(Forewarning) I do not write reviews that give away details of the story.
I've been waiting for Rain Glade since the first day I found out John H Carroll was writing it. The main character is a female named Rain. She is a well-written and full character that will make you fall in love with her in the first five pages.
There are other characters you will love, but Rain captures your heart so fast, you can't put down the book. (Well, I had it on my computer and read it during my hospital stay after giving birth to my son, so I didn't actually 'put it down'.)
Description and setting in this story are so vivid, you believe John is talking about a place you've been before because he makes it feel so familiar. You don't need an active imagination when reading about John's world, which Rain Glade is part of a very elaborate and well thought-out world with many different sections all tied together. It's rather amazing to read his stories because you DO feel you live there and it's fun to think about which part of that world you'd live in if you truly were a character in his books. (I do recommend all his books, though I've only read a few.)
Rain Glade is part fantasy, part love story, and part adventure. Basically, whatever your normal genre (mine is actually horror and I abhor romance, but this story is done so well, I forgot I wasn't in my genre) this story will keep your heart beating and your mind reeling wondering what will happen next.

Once again John H Carroll held me in thrall! A short story w an unexpected ending. Rain Glade is filled w magick, romance and a narative that keeps you turning the pages!!! Five stars for John H Carroll!!!
